The old family piano. It comes to me now after the passing of my mother on March 16th 2020. She was diagnosed with ASL 6 months earlier. On that night she is in her bed, unable to speak, struggling for air. A ventilator, pressing oxygen to her failing lungs, hisses and puffs. It’s soft timely heaving, devastatingly peaceful. The Piano is right next to her and I want to play something for her but somehow I just can’t.
Later I wish I had given myself to that.
This 1913 piano is also showing its age. It has a cracked frame but still holds its tuning. In the months after her passing the idea of sampling this piano begins to obsess in me. I want to remember its sound long after it is gone. It is only later that I realise, this is my catharsis.
This piano sample library captures every note with precision, featuring five velocity layers recorded with both pedals up and down, as well as with the soft pedal engaged. The meticulous recording process includes two distinct microphone positions:
- Outside Position: Recorded with two PDA 4001s for wide stereo and an SE3300 for mono fill, this setup captures the sound as I remember it, reminiscent of the piano’s rich history.
- Inside Position: This setup provides a close, clear attack that beautifully complements the outside array using two AKG C414s in an XY configuration along with a TUL F47 for mono fill.
This vintage piano sample library offers a truly authentic and emotive experience, perfect for composers and producers seeking that timeless sound.

WOW...Just discovered the Bluthner...I have a V piano, Fantoms, Kronos, RD2000, loads of libraries...and I saw this and thought it sounded amazing. I MD Chris de Burgh and although we used Real Bosendorfers and Yamahas in the studio...the last album was done via V piano...and it had no character...THIS HAS REAL BALLS

Simple Elegant Design
Three main knobs control key and pedal noise, mic position and dynamics respectively.
The reverb and delay master knobs control the amount of reverb and delay in your mix.
The Soft Pedal button switches between Soft Pedal on or off. The Soft pedal or Una Corda (One string) gives a muted felt tone to the notes and is hauntingly quiet.

Unfortunately we don’t offer refunds on any software based release. Please contact us if you have any problems though.
Your choice.
Minimum 8GB. Kontakt allows you to purge the samples and will then only load the samples you are playing into RAM as you play them. This is not a problem with SSD drives but with spindle HD drives you will have to update the sample pool as you go.
