WLKR - USER GUIDE

Hover your mouse over the pulsing icons to view info on the relevant controls

Overview

Hand Position
Selects the dominant hand position - notes will play in ather hand positions only if they do not occur in the selected position

Preset Menu
Load factory presets or save and load you own custom presets

Dominant Finger
Select your dominant finger - if a sample is recorded with this selection it will play, else the index finger will persist. Playing fast notes will also alternate between index and middle finger

Velocity Curve
This will adjust the input velocity curve - setting it low will adjust the input velocity along a lower curve producing move softer notes - setting it to a higher curve will produce louder notes

Release Samples
Adjust the volume of the release samples

Ambient Room Tone
Adjust the volume of the ambient room tone

Sustain Pedal - engages slide keyswitch.

 

Movement Sounds
Adjust the volume of the movement sounds for added realism

Navigation Menu
Mix - displays settings for mic channels

FX - displays setting for adjusting effects

Performance settings
Adjusts the performance of the upright bass allowing you to made performance choises. - see Performance buttons menu

Keyswitches
Keyswitches allow you to select the desired articulation. 

Sustain Notes

Slide - Slide to the next note of play half note slide in if no other notes are held. Sustain Pedal Activare the slide kewswitch too

Channel Outputs

Stereo (Default Setting) - All channels are routed to the main Kontakt stereo out

Multi Channel - Channels are routed to individual Kontakt channels - This requires individual Kontakt output channels to be created so that your DAW can use them as inputs

Slide Speed

Slide Speed
The pitch bend wheel controls slide speed, with three settings:

  • Center (default): Quarter-note slide

  • Up: Eighth-note slide

  • Down: Whole-note slide

Fall Speed
For falls, the pitch bend has two settings:

  • Center (default): Natural speed

  • Up: Faster fall

Mix

Mute Channel

Mute channel from current mix - Track remains active and will consume CPU

Solo Channel

Will mute all channels except the solo'ed channel

Channel Volume

Adjust the mic channel volume for your preferred mix

Mix Positions
There are 4 main mic positions 

DI - Placed under the bridge Super close, clean, modern tone

Close Position
Close M (Mono) - A blend of a x and x mic -
Close ST (Stereo) - 2 DPA xxx mixs placed 1.5mete apart

Mid Position
X mic at 2.5 meters

Room Position
Room M - Rode x mix at 5 meters
Room ST - Mid\Side

Purge Samples

You can use these buttons to purge the samples of the channels you are not using. This will help with RAM usage and over all performance. 

FX

Compression
Add compression to the main signal

Verb
Add reverb to your main signal

SUB
Boosts subsonic frequencies for added bass

Tone
Light - Subtle boost high frequencies for added bite
Dark - Subtle cut in hight frequencies for darker tone

Dirt
Add distortion for main your main signal

Performance

Open Strings
Play open strings when possible - this will overide the hand position when an open string is played

Follow - Hand Position
Hand position will automatically adjust based on the note played - this gives a more natural playing tonality when moving up and down the finger board

Keyboard Mode
Allows for full keyboard style chords to be played overriding the natural single note per bass string performance

Vibrato On/Off
Natural vibrato can be controlled with the mod wheel or the vibrato switch - You can also automate vibrato by controlling this switch

Outputs

To create multiple output channels in Kontakt

  1. Go to View -> Outputs.
    You should now see the Kontakt output mixer.
  2. Click on the + button and add 5 new stereo channels.
  3. You can now select multi channel option within WLKR. This will bypass all effects and rout the raw channels directly to the Kontakt outout

Select Engine Outputs


Stereo Output
- All audio channels are routed out of Kontakt Stereo Out - The Mix created in the mixer is retained. 

Mulit-channel Output - All channels are routed out of Kontakt ch 1-6 - The WLKR mixer is bypassed in this mode. In Kontakt go to View -> Outputs and creat 6 individual stereo outputs.
